As the year comes to a close, it is time to honor those who don’t stop pursuing life and actually show age is just a number.

#10 (Feb.) Peyton Manning

At age 39, became the oldest Quarterback to win a Super Bowl, guiding the Broncos to a 24-10 victory over the Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

# 9 (Nov.) John McCain

Kelli Ward, his 47 year old opponent in the Arizona Senate race, and also a physician, who according to her knowledge of what happens to the body and mind at the end of life said; “McCain has gotten weak and old.” McCain won his sixth term in the Senate at the age of 80.

# 8 (Nov.) David Ross

39 year old Ross homered in the final game of his career and became the oldest player to homer in Game 7 of a World Series and led the Chicago Cubs to victory. His teammates carried him off the field.

# 7 (Oct.) Leonard Cohen

82 year old poet, songwriter and performer Cohen, released his new music album; “You Want It Darker.” One review said; “The legendary singer’s latest prepares us for his departure, but comes nowhere near exhausting his vitality.” Cohen died the following month.

# 6 (Nov.) Mike Smith

# 5 (Nov.) Gary Stevens

Smith, at age 51 aboard Songbird and Stevens, at age 53 atop Beholder left the youngsters behind them in a thrilling stretch run in the Breeders Cup Championship at Santa Anita Park. Beholder won by a nostril.

At age 69, Clinton loses the Presidential election but wins the popular vote.

# 2 (Aug.) Mbah Gotho

Born in 1870, according to documents recognized by Indonesian officials, Gotho, 145 years old, now says he he’s “ready to die.” He has outlived all 10 of his siblings as well as his four wives.

#1 (Apr.) Daljinder Kaur

Kaur, age 70, along with her 79 year old husband Mohinder Singh Gill gave birth to a healthy baby boy on April 19^th.
