2014 Year of The Horse

As midnight approaches, and the fireworks are building in the night air, someone asked me to write something sweet and short to begin this New Year of The Horse.

The awe of booms and flares lighting the sky, and alcohol meeting lips reiterating the words to Auld Lang Syne of “be forgot” will fade after a few mornings.

But tonight, wearing my party hat, lifting my glass without regretting, thinking of driver-less cars, curved television screens, Seabiscuit, the nose defeats, and the many times they thought his legs were lame; I toast to improving, a better liniment for the races of this New Year, than the rash actions of forgetting.
